Where's the fire buddy?

Henry has adopted a new "rescue worker" uniform... he and Greg have been watching the old "Emergency" TV shows from the 70s on DVD (which Greg swears is the best television show ever, and molded his early childhood). Actually, this is how I got Henry to wear a blue-collared shirt for church on Sunday "its just like the firefighters' shirts Hen!"

So now, Henry has been "putting out fires" all over the house and has been wearing his gear whenever possible. [I however think that the show is sexist and flat, and DO NOT remember it from the 70s... as I have dubbed it a "boy show" without any female lead characters except for the one boring nurse... and the acting harkens to animated Fisher Price action figures... but I digress.]

Yet, it is on almost everyday in my living room, and Greg is looking forward to buying Season 3, because that's when they get the new firetruck.

1st Communion...

Maddie received her 1st Communion this weekend, and I'm exhausted.

I shopped, cooked, cleaned, prepared, primped and pretty-much orchestrated everything. It was like producing a short film. All the actors were here and I just told them where to go and when. I don't think that Martin Scorcese could have done it any better.

Well, everything went as planned. We had perfect weather and Maddie did great. She was very poised at church, even though her little brother was running around everywhere.

It was a nice milestone for her; as she was shown pictures of me, my brother, my mom, my dad, my aunt and grandmother on our 1st Communion days (thanks Gran!)... so she knows that she is carrying-on a family tradition. I think she liked knowing that, and felt special to be a part of it all.

And now we are eating ham for a week.
